EMDR Therapy

Sometimes, talk therapy isn’t enough.
Through years of therapy, you’ve talked, processed, and reflected. But now you find yourself asking, “Now what?”
You’re tired of circling the same patterns and pain. You want real change – something that goes deeper, something that helps you finally feel free.
I work with adults and professionals who’ve done years of therapy but still feel stuck, carrying the weight of unresolved trauma or painful memories.
You know there’s more healing waiting for you – you can feel it – but you’re unsure how to get there.
Stuck in the same cycles is tiring.
You recognize your trauma and see how it affects your relationships, work, and ability to feel safe in your body. And you’re tired of it.
At this point, you’re ready to let go of the past and live the life you’ve been working so hard for – but you need guidance and tools that actually work.

The mind tries to forget, but the body remembers.
Your hands get sweaty, your heart races, and your body tenses up. Sometimes, you start shaking, feeling startled by noises or situations that others might find small. Your mind spirals into fearful thoughts, and before you know it, you’re in a rabbit hole of worry or panic.
Although you’re telling yourself, “I’m fine. I’m safe now,” your body doesn’t believe you. It remembers – through sensations, memories, and reactions that feel automatic and out of control.
Maybe you’re at work and someone raises their voice, or a meeting suddenly turns tense. You smile, hold your breath, and keep it together – but inside, your stomach drops, your chest tightens, and your heart starts pounding.
A part of you knows your reaction doesn’t match what’s happening, yet your body feels like it’s back in the past.
You know the trigger doesn’t match the moment.
You’ve noticed that your reactions don’t always align with what’s happening. A simple disagreement feels like danger. A minor mistake at work can cause your chest to tighten. You might avoid driving, elevators, or conflict, or freeze or shut down in conversations that feel intense. Criticism feels unbearable.
You tell yourself to “get over it,” but it’s like something inside of you won’t let go – and you’re exhausted from trying to hold it all together.

Carrying negative beliefs is painful.
You might think things like “I’m not enough. I’m unsafe. I’m a failure. I’m powerless. I don’t belong. I should have known better.”
These thoughts feel automatic, like wounds that keep reopening no matter how much you try to heal. They’re painful, distressing, and limiting – and you’re tired of living this way.
You want to feel whole again, live authentically, and experience lasting peace within yourself.
Ready for real, lasting change?
You’re tired of the vicious cycles – the same arguments, the same reactions, the same emotional pain. You know these patterns don’t serve you anymore and are ready for something deeper, something that can actually release what’s been holding you back. You’re ready to live a life that aligns with your values, your truth, and the person you want to become.
This is where Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy can be beneficial. EMDR goes beyond talking – it helps your brain and body finally release what’s been stuck so that you can move forward with a greater sense of freedom, calm, and self-trust.
You’re ready for something different – and you don’t have to do it alone. Let’s look at the benefits of EMDR with me.

Help your brain heal.
With EMDR, I use a structured process that helps your brain finish what it couldn’t when you were younger or when the event first happened. Back then, what you went through was too overwhelming, so your brain protected you by tucking the memory away.
It remained “stuck,” which is why specific thoughts, emotions, or bodily reactions still arise today.
Together, we’ll help your brain file that memory where it belongs – so it no longer feels like it’s happening in the present. You’ll still remember what happened, but it won’t have the same emotional charge.
Build safety and trust from the start.
We’ll begin by creating a connection and trust.
I’ll take the time to get to know you – what you’ve been through, what matters to you, and how your past experiences continue to affect your life now.
I’ll explain how EMDR works and address any questions you may have along the way.
This is a collaborative process where your feedback matters, and I’ll always encourage you to speak up about what you need.

Prepare for healing.
At the beginning of EMDR, we’ll organize what we’ll be working on together – memories, thoughts, emotions, and the physical sensations that accompany them.
I’ll also teach you calming and grounding skills that help you feel safe, centered, and in control. These tools support your nervous system and are part of the healing process, whether we’re using EMDR or not. A significant amount of healing occurs within the body.
Your safety is always the priority.
When it’s time to begin EMDR processing, I’ll guide you gently through the process. Using eye movements (or another form of gentle bilateral stimulation), your brain starts to reprocess old experiences safely and naturally.
You stay in control the entire time. If you ever need to pause, we’ll use a safe word or gesture to stop immediately. My role is to support and guide you as your brain does the healing work.
It’s normal to feel some distress during sessions because we’re touching on emotional memories – but we go at your pace. I’ll check in often, provide grounding techniques, and help you move through it with care and calm.

What makes EMDR different?
EMDR is different from talk therapy. There’s less talking and more experiencing.
You don’t need to retell every detail of what happened – instead, I’ll ask you to share what you notice as we work briefly.
Your brain and body do most of the processing, and I provide structure, guidance, and emotional safety throughout the process.
Ongoing support and care are provided.
As we wrap up the session, I’ll check in about your experience and guide you through a short calming practice so you leave feeling grounded and at ease. I’ll also give you gentle guidance on how to take care of yourself between sessions.
At the next session, we’ll start by checking in, noticing what has shifted, and continuing to process at your pace. Everyone’s journey looks different – some memories resolve quickly, while others take time to heal.
Healing unfolds layer by layer, and I’ll be with you every step of the way. I’ll always welcome your feedback, give you choices in what we focus on, and adjust as needed so the process feels safe and empowering. Together, we’ll make this work fit you.
